WALES v SOUTH AFRICA 1906 - SPRINGBOKS VICTORY PRINT - A large original publication print mounted in ivory titled 'The "Springboks' " Victory over the Principality, featuring photographs from the match and a selection of Springbok photos from earlier in the tour. The Springboks 11-0 victory over Wales was the first home defeat of Wales since 1899. The victory also marked the first in an unbeaten run of 93 years against Wales. Measuring 19"x14" (49x35cm) the print is in good condition and ready to be framed.

PLAYERS

A modern photographic reproduction print of an Arthur Gould print. Arthur Gould was Welsh rugby's first super star. He was the man who put Wales on the rugby map. When he began playing for Wales in 1885, it was only her 8th international and only two wins had been recorded. When he finally retired from international rugby in 1897, Wales had won her first Triple Crown; Welsh clubs were regularly beating English, Scottish and Irish opponents; and the players who were to usher in the first Golden Era were starting to take their place in the national XV.

Gwyn Nicholls summed up his contribution: 'Chief credit for the perfection of Welsh tactics (in the first Golden Era) can be almost entirely ascribed to Gould. This classic portrait of Gould has a facsimile autograph added.
